UPDATE: New Fence Traveler Posts Coming Summer 2020
Updated: Feb 11
Where the heck have I been, you may be wondering. The answer? Working on books 1 and 2 of The Remnant series. Please forgive me for being silent for so long. As it turns out, I am horrible at multitasking, especially when it comes to personal projects outside of my other life's work.
For the past nine months, I have been living and working in KCMO’s Historic Northeast neighborhood at a place (locally) called "The Showerhouse", a community farm and ministry that serves low-income families and people experiencing homelessness. As a full time resident, I have committed myself to learning and practicing peacemaking, hospitality, and community power-building through this solidarity work. Consequently, I have been unpacking my privileges as a white male and learning ways to be a better ally for those on the margins. I plan to write and describe my journey at The Showerhouse in greater detail this summer after I finish working on my fantasy fiction series and fully launching this website.
Until then, I am trying to utilize this time to go inward, to really pursue the Divine Love through contemplation and action. In addition to mobilizing for the Poor People's Campaign "March on Washington" (June 20, 2020) and doing anti-racism work here in KC, I plan to pitch The Legend of the Seer to agents and independent publishers and, finally, finish book 2 this spring. Woot woot! It's going to be a busy year. Thanks for your patience, dear reader, as I continue to learn as I live, walk as I talk, and create as I grow.
